How to enter a Ringtone into your Ericsson R600 Mobile...

The Ericsson R600 is an unusual beast, similar in many ways to other phones from the Sony Ericsson stable,  but with a different ringtone composer.  The result of this is that ringtones have to be formatted specifically for the R600 handset (other Ericsson routines do not work well with this phone).

The other R600 'issue' is the speed of the player.  For some reason the phone plays notes very quickly,  so ringtones either play very quickly,  or take more room in the memory than is usual for Ericsson phones.  The Ringtone Converter takes care of both the uniqueness of the phone, and the tempo issues,  and allows you to add almost any ringtone you want to your Ericsson R600.

Entry Instructions

We have tried to make entry of the ring tones into your mobile phone as simple as possible.  These instructions have been written for the Ericsson R600 phone,  Click on the 'Supported Phones' link to the left,  and scroll down to the base of the page for other phones (e.g. Other makes or models).

To enter the tones on the R600.

1.  First,  locate your ring tone composer

Press the right arrow button to access the menu, then type '4 1 7' (slowly) to enter the 'My Melodies' section. Choose a position for your new ringtone from the eight available slots, then press 'yes' and select the edit option. Finally, press and hold the 'c' key to clear the previous ringtone.


2.  Enter the key press sequence

Once you have located the composer on your phone,  you need to enter the key press sequence given to you by the ring tone converter software. 

Now (in the phones melody composer),  simply type these numbers into your keypad.

Where you see (hold) simply hold down the previous key until the note appears in uppercase on your phones display.

The tone should go into your phone and play for you.

3. Save the tone

Finally, press 'yes' to playback and store the tone.

If the tone doesn't sound right,  you have probably missed a key so you may wish to try entering the key sequence again.  If the tone is too long,  try changing the tempo to make it faster as the phone will let you fit more in its memory at a faster playback speed.

That's it - it could not be simpler,  or cheaper to add a new ring tone to your Ericsson R600 phone (as often as you like!)
