Sharp GX10How to enter a Ringtone into your Sharp GX10 Telephone...

The GX10 is one of the most heavily advertised phones this year in the UK,  and available on the new Vodafone Live plan to allow you make the most of its inbuilt camera features.  Its its good enough for David Beckham,  then I guess its good enough for us!

In addition to a huge screen,  the phone supports no less than four ringtone formats.  The Ringtone Converter currently support three of these,  namely key press entry (no cable required) and midi / iMelody entry (through a cable or irDA connection).

The ringtones created by the software are enhanced to be as loud as possible - if you want to turn them down just use the volume control on your phone,  but for most people this is a very useful feature as the included tones,  especially the polyphonic tones tend to be a little on the quiet side when you are in a noisy environment,  like a shopping mall.

With the Ringtone Converter you do not have to pay per ringtone.  The Ringtone Converter is a software program designed to allow you to convert ringtones and midi files into a format you can add to your phone without paying per ringtone.

Entering Ringtones into your handset

These instructions were written using a Sharp GX10 keypress format for entry,  however they should also work most new 'color polyphonic' Sharp handsets.

1.  First,  locate your ring tone composer

On the Sharp phone,  the first trick is to locate,  and start the Melody Editor.

To do this, press the 'M' button, then press '3' to enter the 'Fun & Games' menu, then '3' again to select the 'Melody Editor'.

Now, press '1' to select the 'Create New' option and enter a name for your ringtone. When you have entered a name press 'M' and select a speed.

A suitable speed for this ringtone is Moderato (Normal),  the software will probably siggest other speed for different ringtones,  and of course if you want to speed up,  or slow down a tone you can change this later.

Finally (you are nearly ready to compose your tone!) select '8 Chords' by pressing the 'M' button. You should then be presented with a screen titled 'Score Input'.

2.  Enter the key press sequence

At this point simply press the keys shown in the picture below in the order shown, as you press the keys musical notes will appear and change pitch and duration.

3. Save the tone

Once you have finished press the top left button 'Options' and select 'Save', then 'Save to My Phone',  or if you prefer 'Play before cursor' to play back the ringtone.

That's it - it could not be simpler,  or cheaper to add a new ring tone to your Sharp GX10 phone (as often as you like!).
