About the RTTTL Manager

The RTTTL Manager is a simple program that allows you to store your rtttl files on your computer in a compact format,  and find them again later!

So what is RTTTL anyway?

RTTTL is the internet format for ringtones,  and stands for Ring Tone Text Transfer Language (much the same as html is the standard for web pages).   Almost all ringtones can be expressed in RTTTL format,   and the nature of the format means it is easy to use,  you can copy and paste the ringtones between applications easily.  As an example,  here is the rtttl text for the USA Star Spangled Banner:

USA (Star Spangled Banner):d=4,o=5,b=130:8g.,16e,c,e,g,2c6,8e6.,16d6,c6,e,f#,2g,g,e6.,8d6,c6,2h,8a.,16h,c6,c6,g,e,c

What use is that to me?

If you want a ringtone for your phone,  then you need to work with rtttl. There are a number of programs on the internet that will allow you to convert rtttl text into either key press sequences,  or send the rtttl via sms to your phone for you,  such as our own Ringtone Converter software.

The RTTTL manager will allow you to build up a library of ringtones for use with these programs,  most of which do not ship with in built ringtones due to possible copyright restrictions.

Isnt it easier just to use one of the pay services I see on TV or in the paper?

If you have a Nokia phone,  then yes it probably is,  but you pay for the privilege!  Each ringtone will cost you,  and you don't know what you will get until it arrives  at your phone,  with no refunds if you don't like it!    If you don't have a Nokia phone (eg Motorola, Samsung etc etc),  then its not usually an option anyway,  you can try,  but you will probably just get a text message with lots of garbage in it as the services wont work with your phone.

With the RTTTL option,  you can find the tones free on the net,   convert midi files into RTTTL,  play them back on your pc before you add them to your phone,  and then translate them to add them to your phone either via sms or keypress depending on your handset.

You can add as many tones as you like,  they don't have to cost a penny,  and if you don't like them,  so what?

Does the RTTTL Manager have any ringtones built in?

The installation file currently installs about 700 sample RTTTL text files.  There is no charge for either the software,  or the rtttl text files,  but you are only allowed to use them for personal use or you may be breaking copyright restrictions.

Why not download now?
